I’ve been transparent on my social media channels that I have personally suffered from on and off hair loss for more than a decade. I actually think it’s been about 15 years – and the reason I’ve lost from time to time has varied. Once it was from iron deficiency, once it was from standard postpartum hair loss after I had my son, once it was from vitamin deficiency after doing a Keto diet for 6 months, and most recently it was because my hormones were out of whack (I went to an endocrine specialist for bloodwork and apparently my level of testosterone was more than double what it should have been, so I got on a prescription and am now doing well with a normalized level).
I understand the angst that hair loss can give you. There have been times when I felt despair as I looked in the mirror, because I was staring at my scalp shining through the crown of my head from the hair being sooo thin. It is truly, truly disheartening… and for many people, including those who have lost their hair from cancer treatments, alopecia or male pattern balding, it can be a devastating experience.
That’s why I was intrigued when I heard about “The Hair Doctor,” a salon in The Mall at Wellington Green. To be honest, I was not quite sure what to expect at the salon – but I did know that Evelyn Metellus had built quite a reputation for being a hair loss expert. If anyone could be the Queen of this realm, it would be her: Evelyn has suffered from severe hair loss herself, after a house fire burned her scalp when she was just 16 years old. She has also experienced alopecia.
Evelyn specializes in hair replacement in her salon. From the moment I met her, I could tell she has a giving spirit. She truly wants to help people! She’s even developed her own line of products that tailor to those with hair loss.
When you go to “The Hair Doctor” salon, it’s a one-stop-shop for hair loss from A-Z. It puts everything you need in one place, and you’re in good hands – Evelyn brings 25+ years of cosmetology experience, and the salon itself offers a full array of services such as cuts, styling and treatments.
“Hair may feel superficial, but for those who suffer from hair loss, it’s the most important thing,” Evelyn explained. “Because I have experienced it myself since I was 16 years old, I want to help others who are going through what I first went through when I was trying to figure out how to look and feel my best.”
If you need help with hair loss, hair extensions, wigs, topical treatments and more, reach out to book your appointment. When I met with Evelyn myself, I figured I had nothing to lose – except more of my hair! I’m glad she’s here and we in South Florida can benefit from her experiences and service.
It’s wonderful to have an experienced and caring hair guru like Evelyn Metellus looking out for us and our manes! Anyone experiencing alopecia or hair loss should add The Hair Doctor to their beauty rolodex. ❤️
